The Founder

Meet Lina Sha

Leadership Was Never Just About the Mind.

Lina Sha is the founder of the Psychosomatic Leadership Institute® and the originator of Psychosomatic Leadership®, a leadership discipline examining how physiological mind–body patterns influence performance, organisational culture and workplace wellbeing.

Her work sits at an unusual intersection: global technology, leadership development, executive coaching and human health. It was the convergence of these fields, rather than any one of them, that led to the development of Psychosomatic Leadership® and its underlying construct, Psychosomatic Intelligence®.

Today, Lina leads the Institute’s methodology development, professional education and strategic partnerships, and oversees the continued development of PIQ®, the Institute’s proprietary system for measuring Psychosomatic Intelligence®.

From Technology to Human Performance

The JOURNEY

Before founding the Institute, Lina spent more than 13 years working across the technology sector in the Asia-Pacific region, including nearly a decade at Microsoft. Her career crossed technical, commercial and people-development environments, from technology and sales enablement to leadership development and internal coaching.

Alongside her corporate roles, she coached professionals across different levels of organisations and became increasingly interested in a contradiction she encountered repeatedly: Why can highly capable people know exactly how they should lead and still respond very differently when the demands on them change?

Traditional leadership development offered sophisticated frameworks for cognition, behaviour, communication and emotional intelligence but Lina became interested in another dimension:
What was happening physiologically when leadership capability became harder to access?

That question became the beginning of Psychosomatic Leadership®.

The Missing Link Was the Body

While her corporate career provided one side of the question, Lina’s education and practice in human health provided another. Her studies extended beyond business and leadership into counselling, naturopathic medicine, classical homeopathy, mind–body practices and related approaches to human health. Across these fields, one principle became increasingly difficult to ignore:

Mental and emotional experience does not remain in the mind. It can have physical expression.

That observation created a different lens through which to revisit leadership. Could recurring physiological patterns help explain why the same leader can think, communicate and behave differently under different conditions? Could leadership development become more effective if it recognised not only cognition, emotion and observable behaviour, but also the mind–body patterns influencing how those capabilities are expressed? These questions became central to Lina’s work and ultimately to the discipline now developed through the Institute.

From Founder-Led Idea to Professional Discipline

“My ambition is not to create another leadership model. It is to make the physiology of leadership part of how we understand leadership itself.”

Psychosomatic Leadership® began with a question encountered across leadership, coaching and human health. Building a professional discipline, however, requires more than the perspective of its founder.

The Psychosomatic Leadership Institute® was established to provide the structure through which the work can evolve beyond one individual with defined methodology, assessment standards, professional education, accreditation, industry input and continued research.
Lina remains the custodian of the discipline’s founding methodology and leads its continued development, while the Institute provides the professional framework through which Psychosomatic Leadership® can be examined, taught, measured and applied.
